LET'S MAKE MOTHER'S DAY ABOUT HELPING MOTHERS
“It’s time to move the apostrophe so that it becomes not just Mother’s Day honoring a single mother but Mothers’ Day, an occasion to try and help mothers around the globe as well.”

My girlfriend Eva is a force of nature. She can latch on to an idea and not let go until she converts it to action.
That’s what happened twelve-ish years ago when she happened upon a set of facts that rocked her world.
We will spend over 21 billion dollars on cards, flowers, chocolates, and other gift items this coming Mother’s Day in the U.S.
That’s enough to educate 60 million girls in the developing world. It’s enough to end the cycle of chronic poverty and hunger for 250 million hard-working families. 21 billion dollars in the hands of people and organizations doing God’s work can transform our world.
The all volunteer-run Mothers’ Day Movement was founded. Gift-giving habits are changing to include donations that benefit mothers who need it.
I went to mothersdaymovement.org and made my yearly donation in honor of my mother. She gets an e-card, 100% of the donation goes to the cause, and I feel good about doing my part to help mothers less fortunate than my mom and me.
I also went to Kohl’s and bought my mom a cute spring blouse. At ninety-two years young, she can use a fresh ‘lil something. Her boyfriend is coming to town tomorrow, and she’s got a date for dinner.
Kudos to Eva and the Mothers’ Day Movement. I hope my girlfriend will be as much an inspiration to you as she is to me. SHARE/PRINT
