Overheard: Today, when I witnessed a 27-year-old breast cancer patient laughing hysterically at her 2-year-old daughter’s antics, I suddenly realized that I need to stop complaining about
my life and start celebrating it again.

Overheard: My first day at a new school an older boy pointed to my shoes from Payless, started laughing, and saying mean things to me. His friend told him to shut the “F” up and said,
“He’s a jerk, ignore him.” I had a very good day after that.

Overheard: Today, in the cutest voice, my 8-year-old daughter asked me to start recycling. I chuckled and asked, “Why?” She replied, “So you can help me save the planet.” I chuckled again
and asked, “And why do you want to save the planet?” “Because that is where I keep all my stuff,” she said.

Overheard: Today, a boy in a wheelchair saw me desperately struggling on crutches with my broken leg and offered to carry my backpack and books for me. He helped me all the way across
campus to my class and as he was leaving, he said, “I hope you feel better soon.”

Overheard: Praise God! There’s a bed in the shelter for tonight if I can get there by 6:00 pm, before they lock the doors. It’s across town, it’s 5:40 and too far to walk. A guy is loading
groceries in his car and I ask if he can give me a lift. He says “Hop in.” I make it there on time.

Just be happy, it drives people crazy. May You be blessed with joy, love, and laughter. As for those “crazy” people – love them too!

Lord You are a God who gives and gives. Show me how to receive in full measure. I open my innermost being to be filled with Your generous riches, Your perfect peace. amen

God, give me the strength to open myself to the heartache that accompanies compassion. To the tired-to-the-bone feeling that comes from hard work. For the vision required to look out, look
up, and follow the divine path to You.

Dear God, You uplift the lowly, bring warmth to the cold heart, and bless the troubled souls with hope. Be with me today, calm my nerves, relieve my worries, and cover me in Your love.
