RELEASE IT
Sweetie was at the end of her rope. Her nerves were frayed; she was depressed and despondent.
There was no end in sight. She dropped to her knees. Her watery eyes were now dripping endless tears.
“Please, God, help me. I can’t go on. My burdens are too heavy. I can’t bear them for another day.”
God whispered in her ear. “My dear, if you can’t carry the weight, I will take your burdens from you. Release them.”
Sweetie did as told. She closed her eyes and thought about the problem that weighs most heavily on her heart. She released it and felt her son’s estrangement tumble to the ground. She breathed a sigh of relief and instantly felt lighter somehow.
Next, she thought of the financial crisis she faced. Her debt far exceeded her income and ability in paying. She faced threats of eviction, and her car was due to be repossessed. She released it. Her ears were finely tuned, and she heard a soft rustle of papers swirling around her until the bills and notices landed silently at God’s feet.
She was still holding on to a lingering fear about her health. Sweetie released it. Her breathing slowed, the pounding in her head subsided. She took in a large gulp of air and was revived.
“Praise to You, oh God! You took my burdens and left me giddy with hope.”
God answered her. “It is your faith that does the heavy lifting. I receive, and I give, but you, my child, must let me help you. And, you, my child, must help yourself. We are One, you and I. Strong and powerful in holiness and resolve.”
Sweetie’s life changed that day. Her situation took longer to correct, that’s true. But never again did she feel burdened. Challenged? Most certainly. Defeated? Not even close.
Oneness with God can come from prayer or in the doing of a good deed. It can come when you are joyful or suffering. Your Godly encounter will surely come when you release it and leave it to God.
