From Susan: I'm taking a departure from my usual Sunday stories. I feel called to share
Adam's story which contains a Godly idea about criminal justice that's
worth hearing. Promise.
I have a personal stake in this issue. My son had a moment of bad decision when he was in his young twenties which led to jail time. His, is a happy outcome. He is my pride and joy. A good man, a hard-working man, a rehabilitated man. It could have had a different ending. But, God showed grace on him.
With my interest in the topic and strong beliefs based in faith, I signed-up for a six-week course by the Jewish Learning Institute called
Crime and Consequences. I sat in the class led by a Rabbi, and surrounded by attorneys - those working in the trenches. I was the lone voice on the victim side. There was lively discussion. I learned about
punishment vs rehabilitation from a Biblical view.
Spoiler Alert: Rehabilitation wins.
I hope you'll set aside sixteen minutes to watch
Adam's story. You may be compelled to learn more. The course I took is free online, self-paced and will meaningful to you no matter which religious beliefs you hold.
Check it out.
