You're no small character. This much I can tell you.
I may not know you. We may not have had the chance to sit down and have coffee together but I know this: you were made with purpose and it is likely a lot of those qualities you grew up being insecure about are the very things that make
you who you are.
I can say this because I know it to be true in my own life. As a young girl, I kept to myself. My nose was always in a book. I preferred to be inside the house creating something while everyone else ran through the sprinklers outside. I loathed the sunshine (which isn't so true anymore) but I loved using my imagination. I often looked around and wondered why I was different from other kids. Why did I not want to hang out with anyone? Why was I the girl who
rushed home after school to build self-help websites for other teens instead of hanging with friends?
For a long time, I was fueled by the fear of being different. I tried to blend in. I tried to throw off my passions so I would not have to go a different route than my peers. I don't look on my life and regret anything but I know I would go back to my younger self and say, "Hey, just be who you are. Be unapologetic about how you are wired."
All those things that felt
"weird" about me in childhood are now my greatest strengths. They are how I run a creative business and how I manage to sit down each year and write a book. These oddities were always my greatest qualities... READ
