COMPLACENCY AND DOUBT

Do you ever hesitate before you make a big decision? Maybe you've already decided what you're going to do. But just as you get ready to do it, you get a pang of doubt.

It happens to all of us. We get comfortable with what we have even if we know we can do and be better. That happens in relationships. It happens in jobs. It happens in our philosophy of life.

It also happened to the ancient Israelites. They were slaves in Egypt. Their days were filled with drudgery and despair. Then this fellow Moses comes along and promises them freedom in the Promised Land.

They are excited. But then they get pangs of doubt. They wonder where their next meal will come from. They wonder whether the God who promises to free them will really keep His promise to protect them.

Then they start taking their anger out on Moses. They ask him, "Did you lead us out of Egypt just so we could die here in the wilderness?" Exodus 14:11

Complacency and doubt are part of the human condition. Sometimes we need to take massive action to break them. It starts with what the Bible calls the "still small voice" reminding us of who we are and what we can do.

Doubt turns to confidence when we listen - it's God speaking and He's telling us to move ahead.

Daily Affirmation

God is the way, my way, He knows the way. I am guided by God who prepares the way for my good. Who is aware of the way to my wholeness and my success. Who is the light on my way. God is my peace of mind. My well-being. My assurance. God is the way.
Prayer Listing

Please pray for me (really struggling today). Our dog died yesterday and we are all devastated. The ice is bad for driving this morning, my finances are bad and my anxiety about my health is sky high today. I keep waiting for something bad to happen and I feel like my prayers don't get answered. Please pray for me. Thank you!
