Dear Diane,
Thank you for your very thoughtful message. I am sorry you found the article offensive and I certainly DO NOT want to lose you as a reader or as a friend. Let me explain.
I published the article because I feel it's an interesting and important topic of conversation. This particular article addresses the moral and biblical imperatives, both from the left and from the right. It seems to me to be an even-handed approach citing pros and cons. Though our president and a high ranking government official are quoted, along with a theologian, I did not read "politics" when I read this article - I read faith. It starts and ends with faith-based thought-provoking questions:
1. "Would God support the New Green Deal?"
2. "Is it high time organized religion step in and support plans like the Green New Deal to help tip the political scales to save the planet? Or are fossil fuels – the remains of long-dead organisms from millions of years ago – all part of God’s grand design, created for
humans to use however they see fit?"
I completely agree with you that the "radically evil" quote is utterly ridiculous. But how can we understand and love people we don't agree with if we aren't open to learning of a different point of
view?
Prayables is clearly NOT a political organization. In fact, the divided politics of our country right now makes me sick. I pray daily for an end to it. I pray for a coming together of all God's people, and all the leaders and advisors from all of God's nations. I pray for it
to happen soon, in our lifetime. As I am tapping this message to you I realize I am praying right now...so I will end my response with...Amen...and God bless.
