My six-year-old is home on spring break. And my four-year-old has been home with a stomach virus.
My sweet little angel manages to still be sweet, even as she’s up all night, vomiting all over me.
The apartment is a mess. I’m drowning in laundry. And I’m struggling to remember when I showered last as I quickly type these words.
But within the chaos we’ve been creating pockets of magic. And lately, much of that magic revolves around one special part of our apartment…
The piano.
When we moved into our apartment six months ago, things were crazy INSANE.
The family who lived here before us had the apartment for sixty years, and it needed a lot of work. Amidst the chaos of all that work, we got a phone call from our broker:
“The seller called. He wants to know if you’d like to keep their piano. No extra cost.”
Coincidentally, I’d been taking my girls to piano classes at the local Y for several months. We used a small electronic keyboard to practice at home. The thought of having a real piano in our apartment for them… well, I couldn’t say yes fast enough.
What we later came to learn was that the man who grew up in this apartment planned to move that piano into his family’s home. The piano movers were here about to take it apart when, unexpectedly, he stopped them. He told them he needed a minute and asked them to wait outside.
