A young couple purchased an old, run-down, abandoned farm with plans to turn it into a thriving organic enterprise. The fields were grown over with weeds, the farmhouse was falling apart, and the fences were broken down.
The village priest stopped by to bless the family’s work, saying, “May you and the Lord work together to make this the farm of your dreams!”
A few months later, the priest stops by again to call on the young farmers. He couldn’t believe his eyes. The farmhouse was completely rebuilt and in excellent condition, there were plenty of cattle and other livestock happily munching on feed
in well fenced pens, and the fields were filled with crops planted in neat rows. “Amazing!” the priest says. “Look what the good Lord and you have accomplished together!”
“Yes, Father,” said the farmer’s wife, “but remember what the farm was like when the Lord was working it alone.”
God can as little do without us, as we without him.
God could have chosen to work in lone splendor, but he has chosen to work in partnership with people.
It became necessary for God to find an Abraham, who was willing to leave home and to take risks for Him.
It became necessary for God to find a Moses, who was educated in the ways of the palace as well as of the wilderness.
It
became necessary for God to find you and make you His partner. What wrong will the two of you fix together?
