About 10 years ago, a marine wrote home and asked for toys for the children of Iraq. He received many boxes of toys, so when he went out he put as many toys in his pockets as he could.
One day,
a convoy of marines was traveling down a street, getting ready to sweep for more terrorists. The lead truck stopped. In the middle of the road sat a little girl about 5 or 6.
The drivers in the convoy asked why they stopped, as this is very dangerous to do. The lead driver was told to go around her if she wouldn't move. The entire convoy started going around the little girl. In the 4th
truck one marine recognized the little girl as one that he had given a teddy bear to the day before. She was holding the teddy in her arms.
The marine told his driver to stop. He got down and went over to the little girl. He asked if she was ok. He saw the fear in her eyes. She pointed to a spot on the ground next to her. It was a land mine. She was sitting there so the marines' trucks would not run over
it.
