You don't get harmony when everyone sings the same note.

May you be blessed to be thoughtful, but not moody. Helpful, but not bossy. Use your vast store of wisdom. Use it all, but do it with humility. Because God knows, no one likes a know-it-all. It's thoughtful to forward the Daily Blessing. |

Oliver Sacks
In this feature for the New York Times, Oliver Sacks writes about his Jewish upbringing and memories of the Sabbath. Dr. Sacks is a professor of neurology at the New York University School of Medicine and the author, most recently, of the memoir “On the Move.” You'll find meaning and joy in this very
special Sunday reading. READ NOWRemember the Sabbath day. Keep the Sabbath day. Honor the Sabbath day.
To get at the heart of this command we have to understand that the command is calling us primarily
to have a rhythm of Sabbath rest in our life. It’s the rhythm of continually having the old self die away and the new self come to life.
As we rest, we rest from the shallow life. That includes sin that so easily holds us back. The true Sabbath, then, is not a day that we honor, but a life that we lead continually. We do not take a day off from sinning on Sunday like we might take a day off from work. And in the
same way that we are called to be worshippers every day of the week, we are called to be holy every day of the week. |
