When I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

Dear Lord please send rain to us. Another fire has broken out in the mountains. Protect our firefighters and give them strength and endurance in their struggles to stop these fires. Please send rain to help them.

Please pray for our police. Evil has taken hold of our world and our peacemakers are being targeted. Lord wrap your loving arms around each of our officers and bring them home safely at the end of their shifts. Lord please change the hearts and minds of those with evil intent. In Your holy name!

For the health care workers - I beg of You Lord to watch over them. Reward them for their selfless acts. Guide their hands and open their hearts. Help them help others.
