Today's Prayer
Lord hear my prayer give me the strength, wisdom, and patience to be a good parent to my children. Allow me to know the breadth of my influence and the limitations. Show me how to be understanding not judgmental. Grant me restraint when I am challenged and give me courage when called for. Lord, give them self-confidence and guidance for sound decision making. Steer them away from temptation and undeserving friendships. Help them to grow in faith with a healthy respect for others and a caring heart. All this I ask as I thank you for all that You do for our family, and all the blessings you bestow on us daily. I praise Your name!
Amen
Sunday Quote
Bible Break: Romans 14:1-4
We are Unique, Unlike Each Other
God created every human being with a unique soul and character. God celebrates diversity and condemns efforts to create societies structured around the kind of unity that demands uniformity.

Tolerance is a Godly Ideal
Societies that demand uniformity have no tolerance for people with different beliefs and ideals. Societies defining themselves as absolutely good, and others as absolutely evil, dehumanize the "others." Violence and oppression become justified in the name of God or the perceived ultimate good.

Unity vs Uniformity
Unity is good and beautiful. It's certainly ideal, but the type of unity that demands and coerces uniformity leads humanity away from the great biblical ideal of peace. Our challenge is to ensure that our unity is one that recognizes and respects the individuality of others.

Rabbi Barak Bar-Chaim
As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
