TEMPO OF PRAYER
The prayer leader was praying very fast and someone went over to the High Priest and said,
“Tell him to slow down. He’s going very fast.”
The Priest said, “Look at Moses. He prayed his entire prayer with five short words. – ‘Please God, pray heal her. Numbers 12:13'”
On another occasion, the prayer leader was going very slowly and someone came to the High Priest and said, “Ask the prayer leader to go a little quicker.”
The Priest responded, “Look at Moses. When he prayed for forgiveness for the incident
of the golden calf, he went up to God and it says he prayed 40 days and 40 nights.”
How could the High Priest give two diametrically opposed answers?
Prayer is up to the individual. It’s sometimes situational and other times it’s lifelong. Prayer can be timely and all timey. With prayer, intent beats content. Long tail prayers or a simple quip of a prayer.
It doesn’t matter.
You can pray with unwavering faith or deep doubt. As long as you pray with an open heart offering thanks and praise to God, your prayers will be heard and answered by God.
