HANDFUL OF ROCKS
A man was driving down the street in his brand-new BMW when a rock hit the side of his car. He pulled over and saw a boy with a handful of rocks in his hand.
“Why are you throwing rocks? Look at the dent you caused to my new car.”
“I’m sorry, sir, but my brother over there is in a wheelchair, and it tipped over when I was pushing him. I tried to get him back in his chair, but I needed help. I’ve been flagging down cars for the last hour but none would stop. I had to do something to get someone to respond, and you did! Can you help me get
my brother back into his chair?”
The man immediately agreed, and within minutes, the young boy was back in his wheelchair, and the two brothers were safe and on their way home.
His life changed from that incident. He made three vows that day.
First, to never repair the dent in his car. Instead, he would use it as a reminder to stop speeding through life without being grateful to God for all he has been
given.
Second, to be more aware and notice those those whose burdens he could relieve.
And third, to always
help a stranger.
