TWO APPLES
A mother saw her young
daughter holding two apples, and the mother said to the little girl,
Sweetie, can I have one of your apples?
Before the mother had a chance even to hear the answer of the child, the little girl quickly took a bite out of one apple and then a bite out of the second apple.
Her mother was
so disappointed. She thought to herself,
What kind of mother am I to raise such a selfish child?
Just then, the child stretches out her arm to
hand her one of the apples and says,
Here, Mommy, take this one. It’s the sweeter one.
Sometimes, we misguidingly question the actions, motives, and thoughts of others in a negative way.
Instead, we should presume someone’s intentions are good, not bad.
Always think favorable, positive thoughts of another and be delighted when they respond in kind.
