A policeman stops Sam as he
and his wife Sadie are in the car speeding down the highway.
“Do you know you were going 95mph in a 65 mph speed zone?”
Sam says, “Why no,
officer, I’m surprised. I had my cruise control set for 65.”
Sadie pipes in from the passenger seat and loudly says, “Sam, we don’t have cruise control on this car….”
The officer writes Sam a ticket and then says, “I also notice your back tail light is out.”
“Oh my! That must have just happened; it was working perfectly before.”
Sadie again, “Sam, I’ve been nagging you for a month to get the tail light fixed…
The officer proceeds to write a second ticket. “And I see you have been driving without a seatbelt. It’s the law. You must buckle up.”
“You see, officer, I was driving with my seat belt on; I took it off when I stopped the car and pulled over to the side of the road.”
Sadie bursts out, “Sam, I warned you to put your
seat belt on, every time we get in the car, I remind you, and every time you refuse to wear your seat belt.”
The officer writes Sam a third ticket, then tells Sadie, “Mam, is your husband always like this?”
Sadie replies, “Oh no, officer, only when he’s been drinking.”
