From Susan Diamond, Chief-of-Pray, prayables
There's an interesting debate going on in my
email. It started with a *message from Mary that gave me a different perspective on a video we shared with two cute kids lip-synching to Idina Menzel and Michael Buble's version of "Baby It's Cold Outside."

Here's the latest.
From Ira:
Why does everyone need to be so negative and not see the joy in it. I have a 5 year old granddaughter and she loves to dress up and look pretty. Is that bad?? I sent the video to my daughter to get her opinion. She loved it and played it for our grandaughter.
Here's the response: "Very cute! She liked the 'Elsa part'…the girl one.' I like how they made an inappropriate song into an appropriate
one!"
Susan Says:
Ira and I had a back and forth. Apparently, we are both clueless grandparents about kid's pop culture. Idina Menzel played "Elsa", the lead in Disney's movie "Frozen".
Menzel sings the duet with Michael Buble in the "Baby It's Cold Outside Video" in question.
From Kathy:
Dear Susan, I just read the letter from Mary regarding the video "Baby It's Cold Outside" in which two children portrayed the characters. I must respectfully disagree with her opinion!
I found the video to be charming
and delightful. Unfortunately, too many people today are intent on reading into everything- songs, movies,books-particularly those from years ago- inappropriate intent and messages which are certainly not there!
This saddens and disturbs me. Turning what was intended as something light and innocent into darkness. This is Cancel Culture at its worst!
From Susan:
Dear Kathy, Thank you for a persuasive counter-point regarding the children's video. This is why I have always been a terrible activist! I can see both sides of the argument, and you make a very strong point.
Many other people feel as you do. In
fact, I agree with you, and odd as it may seem, I agree with Mary too.
Not to get too deep here, but I believe that's why our Prayables community is so awesome. We have faith-filled readers in 152 countries, Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, "Nones" and as far as I know, people of other religions too.
And we're not just religiously, and racially diverse. I'd say our community is made up of good, smart people from completely opposite sides of the political spectrum.
Yet, here we all are. Values intact. Praying together. Doing bible study together. Learning new and interesting things. All I can say is, Thank God we live in a time when we
can freely raise our voices, make our opinions known, and do it together - for God, and for one another.
A Little History
*Hello Prayables, I normally enjoy your postings but a recent one involving a video of 2 children
disturbed me quite a bit. The video portrayed 2 children (they couldn't be more than 10 or 11) dessed as adults in a mockup of the 1930s movie Grand Hotel. Girl was a flapper and boy was a bellboy. One must ask WHY. WHY are children being dressed up and engaged in adult amourous gymnastics? There was nothing overtly immoral in it but therein lies the evil. That we are being led into accepting and even enjoying the sexualization of children. And look at who is peddling it: Warner Bros. Hollywood.
Fire hose of perdition by which the great deciever captures souls Charity compels me to make you aware of this.

Thank you for your thoughtful email about the music video. I didn't think about it from your perspective, and now that you brought it to my attention, I agree with you. It's creepy.
