FRUSTRATED FATHERS PRAY TOGETHER
A distraught father goes to his Rabbi and says, “I raised my son to be a nice Jewish boy. I took him to synagogue every Shabbat. I sent him to Jewish day schools and Jewish summer camps. He was surrounded by Jewish boys and girls his entire upbringing. He was born and raised Jewish, yet he married a gentile girl and converted to Christianity. Why, Rabbi, Why?”
The Rabbi replied.
“I wish I knew the answer. My son, too, is now a Christian after years of Jewish education, Torah study, and living by all the laws of our faith. Let’s pray together and ask God for an answer.”
The two men stood together in the Rabbi’s office and began to pray with unmatched fervor. Rocking back and forth, hands raised in the air, begging, beseeching, and wailing, “Why God, why?!”
With a clap of thunder and a bolt of lightning, the men hear a voice from above. God speaks. “Oy. I
have a son, and my son too…”
